This is the first book of a Post-Apocalyptic mini-series which naturally includes violence.Vietnam War Veteran, Vince Walker is a businessman in a small town. His grown son is coming for a visit and Vince is looking forward to some quality time. Unfortunately, a major event unfolds and leaves them with a new reality. The choices they make in the first 24 hours may define them or get them killed.In reading this story, it made me realize that we humans each have strengths and weaknesses that will make or break us. I really enjoyed learning about Vince, his son, and the people in their part of the world. I look forward to reading the next set of stories as they make their way to my eReader.

I bought this book with high hopes after enjoying the previous series by the author, but sadly I'm feeling a little bit let down after finishing the book. There is not anything I can put my finger on but it just didn't enjoy the story, and for some reason I couldn't identity with the characters and for me that is a big part of every book that I read. If I don't find the characters interesting the nine times out of ten I struggle with the book.

Looks like the beginning of a new series. The last one was incredible story about a man and his son in post apocalyptic world. This one has started out with a lot more drama and is more about a town facing horrific events.

I enjoyed reading this story and finding out more about the characters that appeared in the original series. These all end in cliff hangers, but are worth the wait. My only wish would be that the books would be longer.

There are too many inaccuracies in this book to make it worth 5 stars!Blue Heelers are not bouncy little dogs.My husband is 66, he was drafted in 1972. The Vietnam war ended in 1975.It sounds like Vince is a lot younger than that. There's more than just those 2.I felt the writing to be kind of choppy. Just like this review.Won't buy the next one.

Bruno you have a way that is what I really enjoy about your books. I know I will have to wait for the next book so please don't take to long. I will let other people know about you and your books. Thank you.

I would suggest this to anyone the watches zombie apocalyptic shows its better as it is more realistic, I’m a little addicted to these stories and they keep me up at night thinking about buying a car with a carburetor

Pretty basic steps building into the actual writing of a narrative or opinion piece. It helps the student see what they need to do first, and so on. We are about 1/2 way through the book and my granddaughters writing is improving some. She still hates to write though. I think many of the subjects that are used in here for the writing assignments are better for students that attend public school, as practice at home. My student is home schooled and has not had many of the experiences that they want her to write about. I have adapted some of them to fit what she does know or had her do some research. All in all I think it is helping make it easier for her.

We used this for writing practice for our 2nd grade homeschooler and it doesn't really work for us. She still hates writing and some of the lessons are so weird that we end up skipping them. It encourages creative thinking and the first lesson sets up the rest of the week nicely, but she's never excited to do it and we find ourselves scratching our heads on what some of the lessons instruct you to do. We will be trying Spectrum for 3rd grade.

We have been using this for our daughter (7 yrs old) over the last month making sure she is prepared for 2nd grade. It has helped her tremendously. The exercises are easy yet challenging enough for her to work through. We have seen a great deal of improvement in our daughters writing.

This is a good workbook, but the first week's lesson was very classroom centric, so it was of little use to us as homeschoolers. So, we just skipped the first week and started on week two. No big.

My 7 year old is not a fan of writing in regular, "boring" lessons.... these daily writing activities are quick and fun, she doesn't mind them at all! lol

As a preschool teacher, I bought these for my daughter and I love them. Very educational and still fun to do.

A little further advanced then what my son did in and grade, but at least it kept him challenged thru out the summer too!

Very good practice book for kids to do in summer. I bought writing, reading and math books for my daughter this summer. This writing book is a great exercise and her writing skill improves a lot after practice. Now she is fully prepared for second grade in the fall. Highly recommend.

Author takes what little we know about Bessy and lays the unarticulated pieces of a historical puzzle out for us to draw useful inferences about the meaning and utility of Veseys model of resistence.Authors let's his whiteness get in the way at the end when surmising the internal narrative of black contemporary inhabitants of Veseys landscape in charleston. Waxing nostalgic wasn't necessary or intellectually honest, just a good reminder of the need for more eyes on this story.

This was a very interesting history of a man and event I had never heard of before. I now wonder why. The author does an excellent job of moving the thinking about the event to modern times.

A lot of history is stored in this book, anyone who thought slaves were content and happy with their condition because they were housed and fed by others should read the book. How could human beings treat another human so savagely because of their skin color, then use the Bible for justification should read Vesey.

About the Author

Philip Briggs has been exploring the highways, byways and backwaters of Africa since 1986, when he spent several months backpacking on a shoestring from Nairobi to Cape Town, and first visited Tanzania, bussing from Nairobi to Dar es Salaam then catching the Tazara Railway to Zambia. He has returned to Tanzania numerous times, among other things to research and author the first Bradt Guide to Tanzania in 1992-93, as well as all seven subsequent editions. Tanzania aside, he has visited more than two dozen African countries in total and written about most of them for specialist travel and wildlife magazines, including BBC Wildlife, Travel Africa and Wanderlust. He still spends at least four months on the road every year, usually accompanied by his wife, the travel photographer Ariadne Van Zandbergen, and spends his rest of the time battering away at a keyboard in the sleepy South African coastal village of Wilderness.Chris McIntyre went to Africa in 1987 after reading Physics at Queen's College, Oxford. He taught with VSO in Zimbabwe for almost three years and travelled extensively, before writing his first guidebook in 1990. He has since written all Bradt's guides on Namibia, Botswana and Zambia – and co-authored (with his wife, Susan) the last four editions of Bradt's Zanzibar guide.Chris now runs the specialist tour operator ExpertAfrica, where he leads a team of dedicated Africa addicts who provide impartial advice and organise great safaris to Africa, including Tanzania.

Excellent book!!

I have a love hate relationship with this book. It is exactly what is says: Concise. The book begins with a general discussion of anatomy and morphology and then delves into an approximate 25 page discussion over each type of tooth (incisors, canines, etc...). It then goes into root morphology, primary teeth and dental anomalies. The book is only around 200 pages.You look at it and think: man that couldn't be that hard; however, after reading it you realize why it is only 200 pages. 90% of the book is simply a very detailed description of the tooth, no more no less. The book has pictures in the margins (haha...) that accompany the descriptive text.The pictures are nice, but very few are actually labeled. So sometimes you find yourself looking at a tooth and saying, "Is this the mesial view or distal, buccal or lingual, etc..." This seems to be a common theme in dental anatomy textbooks and I think this is its greatest drawback.The other big drawback is the organization of the sections. I found it exceedingly difficult to locate the exact description when reviewing material. It has letters, roman numerals and numbers dividing up subsections over the teeth, and there are no lines dividing the pages, nor bolded words and very few underlined words. So when you want to review what the mesial view of X tooth looks like, you have to dig a little and find that subheading hidden in the page. There are no charts either, which I find one of the most effective ways of learning material where topics are closely related.The descriptions are good, but at times a little wordy. I have found a few mistakes, but nothing too big. Overall, this book is acceptable and doesn't throw in any clinical correlations and has few superlatives (like MOST common missing tooth, LEAST common, etc...). Our tests ask us mostly questions that have to be inferred from the text because the text does not ponder on clinical correlates or have many comparisons between teeth. In addition, it does not have (and you shouldn't expect it to have) occlusion.The book is a dense read, and I have to read each chapter twice to really absorb the information. It is definitely adequate for basic dental anatomy and learning what the teeth (should) look like. I think it is a solid 3 stars, but not more.

I have always been somewhat moved by, and have carried in my mind the image of Ms. McKenzie's "Jesus of the People" which won the NCR millennium Jesus art contest. I purchased copies of this new book to give as Christmas gifts to friends and am very pleased with it.This artwork evokes more of an emotional faith reaction that expands or focuses faith in boundaries not usually felt by the viewer. Yes, it is a feminist perspective, but it does not shut out male eyes...and perhaps gives a man a new prism in acknowledging and honoring womanhood.I was particularly thrilled to read the comments for each picture by women spiritual writers...but I'd argue that McKenzie's works speak more to personal interpretations and emotions that do not easily lend themselves to description. (or a book review!)Janet McKenzie is to be recognized as an artist with a vision and emotive sense that can say something to the viewer...but expressing the reaction is words may seem inadequate. And I am sure my Christmas gift of this book will truly touch the faith of the recipients.
