EVERETT FOX holds the Allen M. Glick Chair in Judaic and Biblical Studies and is a professor in the Department of Language, Literature, and Culture at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. He is the translator of The Five Books of Moses: The Schocken Bible, Volume I, the author of studies on biblical narrative and its translation, and coeditor and cotranslator, with Lawrence Rosenwald, of Scripture and Translation, a collection of essays by Martin Buber and Franz Rosenzweig.

This is an annotated translation of the biblical books of Joshua, Judges, Samuel and Kings. The translation is deliberately word-for-word, following even, to some extent, the Hebrew syntax. It also does not use the standard English version of the biblical names. There are two types of annotations. The first is a series of introductions with brief commentary that are put before each book, and each chapter. These reflect the current academic consensus regarding the origin and composition of the books. The other type is a series of footnotes, mostly explaining the names, with occasional technical comments. Very useful for the serious student of the Bible.

Everett Fox has translated the Hebrew early prophets into modern English in such a way as to bring the books alive! As he did with Five Books of Moses, he has also provided helpful commentary and introductions to the books that aid our understanding of God's actions with His people Israel during this important period of their history. This book and Five Books of Moses is a very valuable resource for the laymen and the pastor alike. The amplified understanding of the events in these books provides the expanded context we are often trying to gain as we read the Bible. Thank you Rabbi Fox for your effort in producing this volume with your team.

The translater has very specific goals and methods in their transalation and they seems to be right up my alley. The reason for the 4 start is that the book is very big and thick due to very wide margins and high-grade paper. I frequently read lying down and my arms are tired quickly. I would have been satisfied with ordinary paper and formatting of a hardback novel.

The Fox translations of the Hebrew Scriptures are beyond compare. Anyone who doesn't read Hebrew and is interested in the Hebrew Scriptures should own and refer to this book, as well as hie first translation "The Five Books of Moses".

This is a beautiful book and well translated. I also have the Five Books of Moses. I very much enjoy these books!

When this activity book is called "Super-Duper Mighty Jumbo" it means it! It is huge. There are 382 pages of activities for kids all dealing with the Bible. I thought that was really awesome. There are activities of all kinds: color by number, dot-to-dot, tracing, bigger/smaller, matching...(pretty much any activity you can think of!)This activity book will keep the kids busy for quite awhile.I received this book for free from Zonderkidz to review through their zblogsquad program. All opinions are my own and a positive review was not required.

This review is given by my 7 year old son. Has all the bible stories in the world, dot to dot, hearts with people in them, sometimes 3 people in them or 2 people but never one person in the heart, mazes, and coloring pages. Noah's ark, Jesus was born in one of the pictures, and it is lots of fun. So if my 7 year old loves it and uses it I agree it is a 5 star activity book.

I bought this coloring book for my youth group to do a coloring night (along with a different coloring book) and they actually liked this coloring book better than the other one and they are in high school! This coloring book is not hard, and the pictures are detailed enough so that the kids were not bored. They stayed engaged in it the entire time and had a lot of fun.

Bought this book for my Sunday School Class. After the bible lesson they usually like to draw and color. This will give them something to do that keeps with the purpose of the class. There is a variety of activities in the book, and the book is very thick. Should keep them busy for a while. There are activities suitable for most elementary age children. The little ones will really enjoy it.

This is a really large coloring book. It has some really fun pictures to color. It isn't super high quality. It is more like the lower end coloring books in paper and print type, but it is very big. Mine arrived damaged, which was really annoying since I was sending it as a gift. It is really the nature of a coloring book cover to get damaged, so I'm not too very upset about that and it didn't change the quality of the book itself. My 5 year old really likes the book and it has provided many hours of entertainment for him.

My 5 year old had recently decided he really enjoys doing mazes at his day care, and our church's children's bulletin would always have "spot the differences", "find the hidden pictures" and other games. So I was very happy to find more than just another coloring book, but rather an engaging activity book. My ds is very high energy, so to find quiet table activities he enjoys is invaluable! And reinforcing stories from the Bible he is learning at Sunday School is a real plus!

I bought it to practice coloring with my 18 month old. This is fantastic and bigger than I expected! I think it's funny how no word are with simple pictures. Guess it's less offensive that way. 1in thick, about 9in wide, and 11 in tall. When my two month old is ready, I'll be buying this again for her!

I bought two of these Bible Jumbo Coloring Books. I kept one and the other one I gave to a friend of mine to color. We are both happy with them. It's amazing how much stress can be relieved just by coloring in coloring books as an adult. I highly recommend it to everyone.

I cannot express how awesome this coloring book is for young children! It is every major story in the Bible from beginning to end. It is just an excellent resource for any Sunday School teacher of young children or a church preschool setting.

If you have to use this textbook, I'd recommend getting the Klein Organic Chemistry textbook too. I often would use the Klein textbook to help me solve problems in McMurry because I think the information is organized a bit better in Klein. I really hate that McMurry doesn't use line drawings for long carbon chains, but that's my personal preference.

Important information for the access card: if your professor is using Cengage through Blackboard, Moodle, Canvas, Desire 2 Learn, or your school's learning management system, then this access card will work. BUT, if your professor is using Cengage through the Cengage website, this access card will not work. I unfortunately bought this access card and book package thinking that it would work and it didn't in my case, so ask your professor before to avoid this.

I have been a university professor for over 30 years. I bought the first edition of McMurry's Organic Chemistry and loved it. It has become thicker and it has many more pages than that first edition, but of course it covers many more topics. This book has been my personal favorite over the years. Other OC textbooks that I like are Fox and Whitesell's and Bruice's. The one I don't particularly care for is Vollhardt's: too much stuff crammed in the book and a writing style that doesn't make it very easy for students to follow. It's fine as a reference, but in my opinion it's not that great for those who have to study directly from the book. But of course you may disagree with me! At any rate, I think that McMurry's OC is a fantastic book. Period.

This is such a wonderful and very helpful tool for doing well in organic chemistry as it helped me a lot when I took two semesters of organic chemistry, as well as did the solutions manual for the textbook and do purchase the textbook and solutions manual together as both are a must in order to be successful in organic I and II! There were a few instances within certain chapters of the text that could have been just a bit more specific while providing just a little bit more detail, is my only other feedback and/or comment that I would like to add on and point out. Thank you so much for this wonderful resource along with the solutions manual that goes with this textbook!

it not that I dislike "Public Health Law it is that the letter is to small to read . Is there a possibility that I can get an Easy Read Large. An example's, (Thomas J. Very informative. We used this textbook for my Comparative Public Health and Law Class that I took in Spain this Summer. It is a pretty dry read, but it has a lot of information to provide a basis for public health law. The case studies involved in the textbook as examples are super helpful and further explain the main concepts. Overall, it is a decent textbook.

This was a super cute book. I bought it for my husband to read to the kiddos when I left for an 8-day business trip. They're still little, but I think this will be a great read for years to come as I have to travel from time to time. We are a working mom / stay-at-home dad family, and I felt like it was written in a very appropriate way for us.

After being a SAHM for five years, I recently started a job where I travel occasionally. I bought this book to help prepare my daughters (2 and 4 yo) for my first trip. We did the activities suggested in the book (make a calendar, for example). During the week I was away my husband kept reading the book to our girls. They did great! I really think this book helped them prepare for my absence and I highly recommend it.

I thought the book was fantastic for starting dialog about Mommy traveling. My little girl is a few months shy of 3 - so she doesn't completely grasp the concept of a "Mommy Calendar" or Mommy emailing her - but we were able to talk about Daddy giving her a bath and when Mommy comes home and what Mommy is doing while she's away.I do recommend it, even if it was geared a bit more for kids older than mine.

Mommy does travel, and this book comes out every time.

Others have given an general overview of this book; no need to repeat that. Several have noted that if you are interested in steam engines, this book won't help you to understand them. A major flaw is the lack of explanatory drawings and diagrams to supplement the original drawings from patent applications. But this isn't a book about how steam engines work, so that lack can be forgiven. What can't are the errors in fact. I was reading happily along, marvelling at the toys of Alexandrian and enjoying the sweeping scope of the narrative, until we rolled into the Elizabethan period, an era I happen to know something about. There the train drove right off the tracks. The capsule biography of Francis Bacon is not just wrong, it's bizarrely, stupefyingly wrong. Rosen must have copied it from one of the Rosicrucian websites he rightly makes fun of in a footnote. He cites the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography for his Bacon data, but that article is, of course, perfectly correct. OK, it's just one short biography, not central (quite) to the theme of the book, but it is so egregiously bad that the author's credibility evaporated in a flash. Francis Bacon is a major historical figure. If his bio is wrong, why should I believe the stories about George Stephenson or the more minor contributors to the development of early steam engines? From that point forward, I started skimming and taking it all with a grain of salt. The central thesis - that copyright/patent law was essential to the industrial revolution - is interesting. But I'll have to read another book to actually learn about the inventors and inventions mentioned in this one.

Great book, not what I expected. Rosen's history of invention in the steam age is fascinating and detailed. His greatest point is that invention and ingenuity thrive under certain conditions and he shows how legal, cultural, and other factors helped create those conditions in the UK and allowed for the birth of the steam age. If you are interested in modern energy policy, human innovation, mechanical engineering, etc you'll love this book. I was not convinced that I'd enjoy a book about the invention and improvements to steam engines but Rosen's narrative is great and the stories are compelling.

A densely written book with many detours from the original story of steam technology, most of which are relevant. Considerable economic theory and constant reference to the politics of the day and the great thinkers of that time. Makes a compelling argument for the patent system. If you can follow all the twists and turns as well as re-reading segments to understand the logic, you will arrive at a more fulsome understanding of the Industrial Revolution. Steam technology underpins this book, but it is actually about the system and people that produced it. A bit of work, but worth the read. This is a Big Picture story

This book is an attempt to give a reply to a complex question: why the Industrial Revolution started in England between the 18th and the 19th century and not in another place or in another time, for example in Classic Greece or ancient China. The Author analyzes the sociological, hystorical and geopolitical circumstances that caused the explosion of inventions and innovations in engineering that shaped the industrial world of today, using the development of the steam engine (from Papin to Stephenson) and its application as leit-motif. According to the author the key factor in this development was the evolution of the patent system, that is at the basis of the definition of intellectual property and the economical exploitation of human ingenuity. The narration starts slowly, and personally I find it even a bit verbose, as the Author himself practically admits. At midlength the narration gains momentum and becomes a whirlwind of intertwined inventions and inventors. It gives numerous hints for thinking and demonstrates (one more time) that development is a matter of persons who can grow up intellectually and economically only if the surrounding environments foster and nurtures them.

This book is awesome! Excellent history of steam and steam engine development. However, the Epilogue goes totally off the rails and into a discussion about climate change. I'd give this book 5 stars, but after reading that section, the author clearly has a defined opinion on the whole climate change subject, and it's nonsense. However, if you ignore that (and you should), this book is well written, very well organized, and was an excellent read.

Ties the threads of technology,science,politics,law & history together in a well written & structured way.It must have been difficult for the author not to digress into any of the many fascinating sub-stories.(How were boiler's soldered, how were technical papers distributed, how did the banking-credit system work.....)There's enough detail to engage each type of reader (I now know why steam locomotives chuff) while not breaking the narrative thread.I'm reading this book a second time after reading the bibliography & realizing what this E-book (& other E-media like it) needs (thru no fault of the author). It needs a LinkR so I can digress as I read into sub-stories (supporting content) that interest me but that if were included in the book would burden it's utility.A LinkR app would work differently for different users:1. It would post process the book & it's biblio, perhaps tweaked for my interests & insert links in the text.2. For authors, perhaps a Word plug-in that would permit them to efficiently fine, sort & link relevant content, perhaps tagged for user classes..3. Commercially a LinkR has value (cookies have crumbs...Google) to both sellers of content & to authors(think of a LinkR as your personal app-bot that parses your E-content for your interests)& Here I digress: Thank-you Mr. Rosen a thoroughly enjoyable book.

I was a little nervous, because this book really is just each month's centerfold and nothing else, but it's beautifully produced, and it's really fun to look through and see styles change. The 2000s were a rough, fake time, man... We looked at the girls from the months we were born and all sorts of other important moments in our lives and in history; even when I tried to leave and do other stuff, he kept calling me back to look at more of them. He absolutely loved it!

Bought the other one for my husband, & then I saw this one. So I bought it. Much Bigger photos in this one, book layout is better. It weighs easy over 10 lbs, very Heavy. Great quality paper & so colorful, it came really fast! He enjoyed the 80's, He loved going down memory lane. He knew all the names still. He's 55. Got him the latest subscription to PB..Yawn! according to him. Older pictorials are the only good thing. He really Loved this Centerfold book. SEXY photos of beautiful nude women in a classy way...what more could a guy want! He prefers the bustier ones. Lol. Now if I could find him a book of nothing but pictorials. Any suggestions? Dr Beck is a Senior Lecturer in Clinical Diagnosis and Neurology in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Murdoch University, Perth, Australia; and Associate Professor, Clinical Neurology at the Carrick Institute for Graduate Studies, Florida, USA. He is also Director of the Institute of Functional Neuroscience, in Perth, Australia.Dr Beck graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1984 and the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, Toronto, Canada in 1988. He has subsequently completed a PhD focusing on psycho-neuroimmunology and spent the last 12 years practicing and developing the clinical applications of functional neurology. The meat of this story happens after they're married. He doesn’t tell her the ugly stuff about his past and that omission will put their lives and relationship in jeopardy. Harper questions whether she can live in his world. Brad will do anything to make her stay. Their wedding vows will be tested. Good supporting characters - family, friends & enemies. Passionate scenes and violence. Some small grammatical errors. There are a couple of instances when I was surprised Brad didn’t hurt someone who offended Harper. Perhaps this was an example of his self-control. I liked this story. It was more than I expected, engrossing from the beginning. Worth the price!

I Really loved this book. Brad is so different from any other hero, that To be have written. I love all of Toye's books. She is an automatic 1click for me always.

This book had potential but didn’t quite make it. Most of the book was anticlimactic. I couldn’t connect with any of the characters and, it was hard to follow during some of the scenes. I didn’t like this one.

Been a minute since I've read anything from Ms Brown. I enjoyed this story. I " h" did work my nerves there for a minute when she considered leaving Brad..But I read on to the end. At the end is where I found a lot of typo's. It's like they were anxious to finish the book and made dumb mistakes

This is my first time reading a book by this author, and I found it to be an entertaining read. The characters were engaging, despite a few annoying reactions by the h. I would like to read stories about the other men in the book.

Brad was from a mafia family and he married Harper without telling her. He can no longer hide the situation after a fight with his stepfather. Harper begs for his life and it comes back to bite them. Harper was too weak and didn't want to face reality and Brad was too wrapped up in Harper to handle his business.

New author to me and I liked this book. The plot was believable. The love scenes were hot and not over the top. Will check out more from this author.

Really enjoyed this book. Hope this is first in a series with the other characters. If not, looking forward to other books by ms Brown
