I don't even think they kissed in this book and they were married!!! Lol. But I did like the story. The h is kidnapped from her family in Sweden and brought to Scotland to be sold as a slave. The H buys her and marries her. She finds out the Uncle is behind it because he is chasing them trying to kill them both. There is hiding in caves, injuries, a noble horse, and a thrilling sea voyage. And I felt that voyage from the authors writing skills. I truly did. It was amazing. I felt like I was in that ship as it rolled and rocked and fought against the waves. I really loved that part. So why three stars? Because you never find out why her uncle was wanting her dead!! That is why plus I didn't feel the romance at all between the two main characters. I will keep reading this author.
This book was dull. Boring. Much too long. The characters are one dimensional. Flat. The plot was drawn out and lifeless.A highlander goes into tavern to get ale and there is a slave auction taking place and he ends up buying a Norwegian captive, a young woman who looks like his long lost love. Unfortunately, they become aware she is being pursued by evil men. That's the basic plot. Of course, she hates him because he's a Scot and their countries are at war in some unknown historical era that is never mentioned. The characters are one-dimensional, lifeless and emotionless.....other than repetitious mention of events in their pasts. There us no sense of any development whatsoever. Their dialogue is stilted and bland.Descriptions of events supposedly suspenseful, heartfelt or tenuous go on and on to the point this reader tended to skim entire paragraphs.....like the description of Dalla, the Norwegian captive, when she fearfully climbs a ladder to board a ship.....four pages of overlong description. I thought she'd never get on that ship. There are other examples of this tedious and too long describing as she gets herself into one dangerous situation after another and the so-called harrowing incidents if her stupidity are drawn out to ad nauseum. The dead, emotion starved dialogue between siblings who haven't seen one another in a decade reminded this reader of 'Dumb and Dumber.'No recommendation. Big yawn.
it was an intresting story and if it had an ending it would have been a very good story. the reason the uncle wanted to kill herwas what kept you intrested but you never find out. i liked the bickering but there was no romance. No romance between them no sparkle, but worst is not knowing the end of the mystery. Maybe theres another book where you find out whythe uncle hated her so much he destroyed a town his shipand killed himself and his crew
I liked it well enough for s “free†book however; story end abruptly for me. I needed closure. Her uncle persues her because he wants her dead but we never find out why. Hugh finds long lost brother and it’s not the happiest of reunions due to a rift that separated but we also never find out why. The last problem I have with the storyline is how Hugh and Dalla suddenly realize they love each other but the author never truly developed any physical relationship or even much interaction besides saving each other constantly.
This was such a wonderful story. It captured my attention from the first page and held my attention throughout. This was a clean romance and it had a interesting storyline. The only complaint that I have with it was that I would have liked to know why Dalla's Uncle was out to kill her. The story never gave a reason for her Uncle wanting her dead. I could make assumptions from what I learned of Dalla's background but it would have been nice to know for sure the reason why. Other than that one complaint, I really enjoyed reading Hugh and Dalla's story.
The action built slowly as the couple tested each other's boundaries but as the story filled in, the action picked up. It is a clean romance, just a few kisses for those who don't want the more explicit scenes. With a couple of near death escapes the bond became forged for a HEA ending. As I looked over some of the author's other works, it turned out I had read several in this series at an earlier time. It was nice to revisit another chapter in the ongoing story of the Duncan clan
Dalla💃, a Viking princess👸, is taken by slave traders right off of her country estate in southern Norway and shipped to Scotland to be sold into slavery. When she thinks about it on the voyage, she realizes either her father👹 or uncle👹 was the one to have it done. It wasn't random.HughðŸºðŸ”ª, a Scottish Warrior, is on a quest to find his brother, after so many years apart. He stops into the town where Dalla💃👸 has been brought ashore, and buys her at the auction.HughðŸºðŸ”ª has the local priest marry them on the way back out of town. Now, instead of a slave, she is a highlander's wife👰!Interesting book!📕
The main female character was a lower member of the Norwegian royal family and was supposed to go into a convent but before that could happen her uncle had her kidnapped and brought to Scotland to be sold as a slave. But Hugh was in the tavern that day and he saw her dignity even under her circumstances and bought her. But her uncle must have decided he would treat her too good because he chased them all over Scotland to make sure she was not going to survive, but Highlanders and pushed off princesses are pretty clever
