My husband and I struggled with infertility for close to 7 years. I did Clomid, IUI, IVF, FET. I got pregnant with IVF but it ended in a chemical pregnancy. I also go pregnant with the FET but miscarried at 7 weeks 4 days. We planned to give IVF another try in Sept. 2016. We moved across the country, bought a house and 2 weeks later (2 days before Christmas) I took a pregnancy test that to my complete and utter shock came back positive. I am now almost 18 weeks pregnant with our rainbow baby, a healthy baby girl we are naming Emmerson. I bought this book shortly after my miscarriage and it helped give me hope to hold on to. Now my husband and I read this book to our unborn daughter almost every day (now that she can hear us) and neither of us can make it through without crying. This book is perfect for anyone struggling or who has struggled with infertility, loss or both.We can't wait to read it to our daughter when she is here and remind her every single day how wanted and loved she is.I even bought this book for a friend who has been on a similar journey as me, to help her keep the hope alive and one day be able to read to her precious baby.

I bought this great book for a friend. While I assume this book was written for parents who have adopted, this worked great for parents who struggled with infertility and fertility difficulties. This was a great book to give expectant moms and dads who have undergone fertility treatments to have a child or those who have adopted. What I really loved was the fact that it outlined what the process truly feels like, the excitement of being ready to have a child, the heartbreak when you find out that it isn't a possibility, and the thunderous joy of finally having a child - all without making it religious or too scientific. I cried reading it and cried reading it to my son, who is yet too young to understand this book, but perhaps one day will understand what his parents felt, emotionally, as we journeyed towards becoming parents.

We went through many losses and IVF to get our sweet rainbow baby and this book perfectly exemplifies that story without too much information for a child. I bought three copies to give to people at our fertility center and this ranks as my current very favorite book for our son. It doesn't go into any details of a specific journey, just a couple (non-gendered) that waited and waited for their baby. Makes me weep when I read it.

After years of infertility we are pregnant with twins via IVF. When I read the book I started crying, this explains exactly what my husband and I went though emotionally. I want my babies to know how much we fought to bring them here and how much they are really loved and wanted. This book will do it.

There are not enough good things to say about this book. For anyone who thought they would be like everyone else and just have a baby when they decided to, but then found out that some roads are very long and winding and full of heartbreak, this book is for you. It flawless describes the stages of wishing for a child, the child not coming, the despair and limbo of waiting, and the final glorious moment when your miracle baby finally arrives. As someone who had to wait two years and go through countless procedures and tests, to finally get my miracle baby through IVF, this book makes me ugly cry every time. Buy it for yourself or a friend going through infertility. I bought it before my baby was here and it gave me so much.

I love this book. I originally saw it at Target and was literally crying in the aisle when I read it. It resonated with me because we struggled with infertility for years and this book talks about the waiting in a very simple way that is appropriate for young children. I checked the price on amazon right then and there and ordered it on amazon because the price was cheaper. We used this book as a centerpiece at a table for my Storybook themed baby shower and it was the first book I read to my baby boy when he was born.

As someone who struggled with infertility, this book spoke to us. We want our little one to know just how special he/she is to us because of the complicated journey it took for him/her to get here. Was reading aloud to my husband and unexpectedly started tearing up about halfway through the book because it was completely our story.

It took 4 IVF cycles to make our son. It took at least a dozen reads to be able to get through this book without sobbing. It was written by someone who has been there. “We didn’t make plans”... so perfect. This is a beautiful book, perfect for anyone who struggled to get their baby. It would work for adoption, infertility, and for same sex couples too (the elephants are not gendered). Love it.

This book is a fascinating and convincing analysis of (1) the political contest between pro and anti-slavery forces during the founding of the United States, (2) the legacy left by that contest in the text of the Constitution, and (3) the contribution of that legacy to the eventual destruction of slavery. Short and to the point, yet nuanced and complex, it presumes on the part of the reader a basic familiarity with American history and the U.S. Constitution. As the author, Sean Wilentz, explains, during the last thirty years, historians have “forced a reckoning with the Constitution’s concessions to slavery that scholars had evaded for generations”—such as the infamous “three fifths compromise” by which the slave holding states obtained greater representation in the House of Representatives than would have been due them if representation had been based only on their share of the nation’s voting population. While acknowledging the beneficial aspect of that “reckoning,” Wilentz argues that a victory by the forces OPPOSING slavery that has been overlooked by the historians of recent decades was at least equally important in shaping the Constitution, and possibly more decisive in determining the fate of slavery. To make the foundational struggle between pro and anti-slavery forces more comprehensible, Wilentz first explains that one of the central purposes of the constitution was to increase the security of personal property—a purpose that also motivated Congress when it added the Bill of Rights with its “Fifth Amendment,” which prohibits the government from taking away any person’s “life, liberty or property without due process of law.”At the time of the constitutional convention, under the laws of the states in which slavery was legal, enslaved persons were defined as property. If the founders had tried to create a constitution under which the enslaved persons could have been emancipated by the federal government, the founders would have been threatening the slave holders' property rights under state law, and no slave holding state would have accepted such a constitution. However, what the anti-slavery founders were able to do was to EXCLUDE from the Constitution any hint that enslaved persons ALSO were defined as property under FEDERAL law. For this reason, the new federal government was constitutionally able to prohibit slavery in geographical areas or business transactions controlled by the federal government—such as the territories in the West, and the trade in slaves that was conducted internationally. At the time of the drafting of the Constitution, the power of the federal government to end the international slave trade may have been considered the most important concession made to either side. Ultimately, however, what ended slavery was the power of the federal government to prohibit slavery in the territories. The original Republican party, described by Wilentz as “an antislavery mass organization unprecedented in history,” was dedicated to strangling the institution of slavery by prohibiting its expansion into the territories. The election of the Republican party’s presidential candidate, Abraham Lincoln, triggered secession by the majority of the slave holding states; and secession, in turn, triggered the bloody war that ended slavery.Of course, the seceding slave states insisted that the Constitution had given them federal property rights in their slaves. But Lincoln and his party had a well founded belief to the contrary. In every generation, only a small number of works of history have the potential to significantly enlarge our historical awareness. Sean Wilentz’s “No Property in Man” is such a work.

Wilentz's book on how slavery was treated in the Federal Convention in 1787 has been highly touted by academics and the Wall Street Journal. The praise is justified; Wilentz does a credible job of connecting the dots between the Convention and the secession of the Southern states in 1860. As such, the book will prove to be a handy reference tool for students and historians.Notable among Wilentz's observations are how the Southern states, from the Convention itself, constantly played the secession card to exact concessions from Northern states desirous of forming, and keeping together, the national union. Ironically, the many compromises struck between 1787 and 1860 contained the seeds of the South's destruction in 1865. And Northern patience had clearly worn thin upon the handing down of the Dred Scott decision, which was farcical in its assertions about slavery in the Constitution. Wilentz concludes that the South's worst fear all along was that the North was correct in belief that the Constitution did not authorize, overtly or tacitly, property in man.On the other hand, the "paradox" of the Convention's final product--at times exacerbated by one of the Constitution's authors, James Madison--left much ground to be occupied by supporters of slavery. As Dwight Eisenhower noted in 1960, Robert E. Lee fought for a "constitutionally debatable" issue. That he and the other Confederates were wrong is undeniable; nevertheless, the necessary compromises of 1787 bore bitter fruit that eventually led to war between the states in 1860.The reason I gave "No Property In Man" two stars is because of Wilentz's writing style, which can frankly sap so much energy from its subject (previously treated, in lively manner, by Don Fehrenbacher, Harry Jaffa, and David Potter) that reading it became, at times, a laborious march. This will probably not deter someone who specializes in Constitutional history or slavery, but the book is not exactly suitable for reading history for leisure. With that said, Wiletnz deserves kudos for the insight he brings to the issue of the treatment of slavery in the Constitution.

This book demands a close reading; providing it is very rewarding. One learns how much debate and disagreement went into events that we typically only recognize by a few word descriptives, like The Missouri Compromise or the Compromise of 1850. One comes to admire the courageous persistence of individuals who insisted from the start that slaves were not and could not be treated as "property--yet, how others believed exactly the opposite.Even if you have read many books about this period of history, I believe you will find this illuminating.

Wilentz's book is an elaboration on lectures given at Harvard on the theme of how slavery was and was not recognized in the Constitution. He acknowledges that some of the compromises made -- most notoriously the "three-fifths" rule -- gave disproportionate political weight to Southern slave states by including disenfranchised slaves in their notional populations -- but insists that anti-slavery representatives of various Northern states deliberately refused repeated efforts by Southern representatives to insert language to formalize a property right in slaves in the Constitution itself. He concludes that while the Constitution left slavery in place wherever it existed in 1789, the drafters refrained from any "legitimizing" language in the text -- not by oversight but by design -- and thus laid the groundwork for the abolition of slavery under federal law (but only after a catastrophic civil war).

I disliked nothing.I liked the precise analysis of the slavery issue during the founding and the clear, cogent writting. For anyone wanting to better understand our complex political and legal history with the institution of slavery , this is a must read.

By 1944, the Japanese Imperial Navy was husbanding its remaining aircraft carriers, hoping for a decisive battle that save its Pacific empire. The invasion of the Marianas by the U.S., led by its own Task Force 58 aircraft carrier force, was the opportunity Japan had been waiting for. Over a handful of days in June, 1944, the two great fleets would maneuver in the Philippine Sea, and strike..."The Philippine Sea 1944" is an Osprey Campaign Series book, well authored by Mark Stille, with illustrations by Jim Laurier. The author lays out the opposing forces and their leaders and plans. The heart of the narrative is the actual Battle of the Philippine Sea, as the two fleets probed for one another and then launched their respective strikes. There is an excellent selection of period photographs, maps, and battle diagrams breaking down the sequence of events at a level of detail that is easy to understand. This reviewer was particularly interested in the surprising recovery rate for the last U.S. strike, as planes returned in the dark, low on fuel and sometimes damaged. The author puts significant effort into critiquing the respective commanders, their plans and the execution of those plans. The critique is quite rather harsh in both cases. The reasons why are likely to be of interest to students of the conflict. Well recommended to that audience.

Not so bad, but I would say overpriced (for 96 pages). Now, you probably know that going in, so let's be fair. But, on the system here, is it okay? Yes, it's okay,This is a pretty straightforward statistics and equipment list, with some nice analysis of the battle plans and that sort of thing. A quick overview of personalities. For me, the best part was the explanations, however brief, of two phenomena: (1) I had often read about how poorly trained the Japanese pilots were, but this is the first time I had seen that explained, along with a comparison of American pilot training; (2) I had also gotten the idea that the Japanese navy had never quite let go of this whole "decisive battle" concept, and the author indicates in some detail that, yep, that was the case.I got the book because I needed a break from my novel-length readings, and it accomplished that.

Solid research from Japanese and U.S. archives, sound historical judgments, and excellent graphics of aerial combat

This book is outstanding and really breaks down the battle for both sides. I highly recommend this book on this subject.

Very good book about an important battle in the pacific theater.

Excellent read...

Fairly accurate

Typically good Osprey book.

Well written book about two brothers who had a vision and made it happen. The Wright brothers solved a mystery the of flight that escaped many others before them. What is ignored in the telling of the Wright brothers is the third man who remained in the background, The three worked as a team in all aspects running the businesses and in designing the first powered airplane. Charles Taylor, a self taught machinist, without plans made from scratch the light weight engine they needed; no other manufacturer of engine could provide one. Taylor's machining skill was needed to make the metal parts and the vital light weight engine needed to make flying possible. Because no accurate and detailed notes or diaries were kept during all the activity that went into making powered flight possible Taylor's part in the endeavor was lost.

Once you read the "How We Invented the Airplane" by Orville Wright, you realize just how closely they depended on the works of Otto Lilienthal to invent controlled flight. Otto was an engineer so the book has engineering equations. After Otto's untimely death, the Wright Brothers were able to take Otto's work and apply it towards inventing controlled flight. I clearly see the difference between "pure research" done by Otto and "applied research" done by the Wright brothers. It is always a struggle as to who should get the credit as applied research cannot succeed without basic research. When you read both books, you realize the credit for inventing flight should go to Otto & the Wright brothers. Suggest reading Orville's book first.

I'm an Aeronautical Engineer, retired from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, a Division of United Technology Corporation, a pilot with a Commercial rating, and over 55 years of flying experience......having flown Piper Cubs, T-28's, T-birds, B-47's, F-84's, F-86H's, and Cessna 172's, and 182's....Lots of fun and experiences! The book tells it like it was for two young brothers to invent, and perform for the first time, controlled flight. It was an inspiration to me and to any one. Other customers should obtain this book to share the excitement and model of what can be done if you are dedicated, and willing to 'keep at it'!

I liked Tom Crouch’s “The Bishop's Boys: A Life of Wilbur and Orville Wright” and when I saw this referenced I bought it. I must say it had real resonance while adding context. It’s short and concise and help’s you to understand what drove them (even after having read a 600 page biography). I recommend it to anyone who admires the Wright Bros. as I do. I’m not sure if you should read this before or after “The Bishop's Boys” but either way they’re both must reads for aviation aficionados. This is a picture book and the illustrations are excellent but you’ve already seen most (but not all) of them, but I was most interested in the text, you’re left wanting more - if only Orville had written an autobiography.

Gift for husband who is a pilot. He enjoyed reading this as it was filled with so much history. I would recommend this to anyone interested in aviation history or the Wright brothers.

I hate to confess that I didn't even know that the Wright Brothers had written anything later in life. This was so great to read about how Orville Wright and his brother and family really felt about their quest. As co-owner of an aviation restoration company that works on older aircraft, this book meant more to me than most. What I have noticed about most pilots is that except for those who get involved in the military or through chance - most pilots are almost "meant" to fly from the start. It is something that inspires them from the time they are kids. With the cost of flying and owning an aircraft, not every kid pursues his dream, but for Orville and the rest - once they are up in the sky it makes it all worthwhile.

Excellent research material for studying the Wright Brothers. If you are a pilot it is a must read.

Very interesting to see history through Orville's eyes. Very detailed commentary.

First and foremost, this is a textbook. If you need it for a class and are unwilling to drop said class, I recommend you get it. I would urge you to rent this book over purchasing it, as it has little value outside of the first read. You will not reference it later. The author has a writing style that is both pleasant and easy to follow. I take no issue with him or his work. The content itself provides more of an overview of operating systems. Perhaps a better title would have been "A Review of Operating Systems"?You will not be diving deeply into any topic in relation to operating systems. Again, this provides more of a review. It covers Windows platforms well enough, with brief mention of MacOS and Linux. The real value comes from performing the projects at the end of each chapter. If your class does not perform these or assign you to do so, not much learning will occur. Without the projects, this book functions as both an expensive and verbose brochure of modern operating systems. While the content is largely similar between the 4th and 5th edition, save for chapter eight; the review questions are not. They have been modified significantly enough to justify getting the latest version and incurring the inflated price in doing so. If this book is to be used for a class, I recommend its acquisition. If you are a self learner, I recommend passing on this book. Select a book more focused on your preferred domain (e.g.: Windows, MacOS, or Linux).

As you can see in the photos. The first book I ordered was like this almost throughout whole book. So I exchanged for a new one. Got the new one and still have this on pages. Is disappointing when you spend $174 and the quality is not good. Of course class started so I didn’t have time to exchange this one out either.

Thankful didn't have to purchase new.$$$$

The textbook provides an in-depth overview about various Operating Systems.

This is well organized; all the usual information you would expect. Good quality paper, which is helpful because I use the guide while hiking. Maps are included to help with orientation. The middle of the book has some excellent pictures. I would have appreciated more hints about "best time of day" at certain locations for photography. There were "some" tips, but not many. This book is only for DAY hikes. there is a Trail locator map in the beginning. It is easy to pick a trail in a given area that way. There is a summary listing of all the hikes in 3 categories; easy moderate and strenuous. There is also a large index in the back of the book; for easy referral back into the book of hikes for locations and viewing of the map relative to your inquiry. This book has saving me many hours of searching online for this same information in the book.

The guide is straightforward with some useful information. Advertised "NOW WITH GPS-COMPATIBLE MAPS" is an overstatement. Instead of a proper graticule, the maps have only latitude and longitude marginal ticks with no indication of the datum used. The only way to figure out the datum is to locate a clearly-defined point, enter its coordinates in your GPS using a typical datum like WGS84 or NAD27. If the point is about a football field length off, then you should try the other datum. The color photographs are stunning and the brief descriptions of wildlife are interesting.

If you are planning a trip Glacier National Park, this is a great book to review before you go. It provides great information on hikes in the park. For someone who does not know the area, it is really good. Since it is a kindle book, I was able to take it with me on my tablet and read about things to do once we got to Glacier.

While tracking around Glacier National Park, this handy, little book became the hiking bible. Partner and I frequently would read up on hike options the night before, and then travel out the next day with book in hand mapping out the day's journeys. I've used other books, but this was the most helpful and insightful for us.

This book is great for helping in planning what hikes you want to take. The only down side is that they don't show pictures of all the trails. I really wish they did so you can get a sample of what you would see. However, I don't know of any other books that offers both the pictures and the detailed descriptions. Like I said, it does offer good descriptions along with mileage and tips. This is a must have if you are going to Glacier National Park.

Glacier Day Hikes was one of two guides I purchased prior to a recent trip to Glacier National Park and Waterton Lakes (the sister park in Canada). There are 34 hikes listed here broken down by geographic regions inside Glacier. At the beginning of each hike listing, there is some basic information such as length in miles, level of difficulty, and best time of year to complete the hike. The maps and detailed descriptions are clear and relatively easy to use.Overall, this is a good guide and if it was the only one I had purchased, I probably would have been pretty happy with it. Since I had the opportunity to compare it to another book, however, certain flaws became rather apparent. First, this book is too large to fit in a pocket so you can't easily bring it on the trail. Second, the elevation change (or amount of climbing) during the hike is not given either in the summary or the detailed description. This is a huge factor in determining the difficulty of a hike and should be included. Their difficulty rating is nice, but I prefer to gauge some aspects of the hike myself. Another quirk in the book is that the geographic categories don't make a lot of sense. Glacier National Park has several areas that lend themselves to this kind of distinction but in some cases the book made up its own boundaries instead and I found this very confusing to use. Finally, the book includes no hikes from Waterton, so if you go to the Canadian side, you will get no guidance here.Comparing Glacier Day Hikes to the Best Easy Day Hikes Glacier and Waterton Lakes National Parks, 2nd (Best Easy Day Hikes Series) it's pretty easy for me to say that the Falcon Guide was more helpful. It had none of the flaws that Glacier Day Hikes did and was the one that I carried with me during the whole trip including the hikes themselves. This book does list more hikes within Glacier, but they are all longer hikes that many people won't want to try anyway. This is certainly not a bad book; it has a lot of useful information. But it is not as helpful as "Best Easy Day Hikes" so I can't recommend it.

This is a perfect book for folks that are headed to Glacier NP for the first time or second, we used this to determine the type of trail, easy/moderate/ or challenging. Great purchase.

The Glacier Day Hike book includes most of the popular trails, and some less known trails. The description of the trails is good with some interesting information about biology and history. But there are some glaring mistakes. One trail is described as 17 miles long (round trip) and easy, but is actually only 6-7 miles (round trip).Trails are classified as easy, moderate and difficult. There is not information about elevation gain, and the classification at times seems a bit arbitrary as if different people had evaluated them.My two biggest complains are:1)No information about elevation gain.2)Trail heads at camp grounds and other developed areas were hard to find.

#343 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

Cupcakes, an evil queen, strong families, and love. This book is like a Valentine’s Day gift wrapped in frosting with a dash of hockey sticks. Jamie and Shannon, after 3 years of friendship, finally see themselves as more in their senior year at Strickland University. Post college career decisions, stress over a hateful social media blogger, and taking risks to love someone all play a part in Jillian Quinn’s new novel, Jocking Jameson. While this book is part of a series, you can read it as a stand-alone with no problems.I received an early copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.

The team is being attacked by a blogger named Dethroned. Jameson is the computer whiz but can't seemed to find who it is. He is also on the hockey team. He has been friends with Shannon through school. They are so good together once they go further than just friends. The Queen from Dethroned strikes against them. Love the ups and downs with this book and trying to figure out who the Queen is. Another exciting, adventure of this series of the kids of the original group.

I absolutely love this series. I was so excited for Jamie’s story and too finally see exactly who is The Queen. I love Jamie and Shannon together, you can feel their connection for each other as you read. Their story had me hooked from page one and the ending was perfect. I can’t wait for Drake’s story next.

The book was a page turner and a great addition to the series. Jamie is the hot nerd of the hockey team and you hear about his complicated relationships in the other books in the series, so I couldn’t wait to read his story. There is a mystery to solve and a Queen to unmask. Jamie has two complete opposite girls involved, some decisions to make and all the characters in the series are involved. This is more about the tech side of the family than the hockey in this story and we get more information on Jamie’s immediate family. I don’t know if I agree with one of the decisions made. I was kind of hoping he would compromise with both and have it all, but I don’t want to give the decision away.I enjoyed the story and how everything plays out. I truly love the series and can’t wait for Donovan’s story!

I am new to this series, even legacy series, but the author did a great job in explaining things so that I knew what was going on and was not confused, which was super great! This was an interesting read. I felt as if there was a lot going on in which the main characters were not only in college, but had multiple hobbies that they were doing as well. Jamie was not only a hockey player, but he was a brilliant coder and was being pushed and pulled in two different directions and Shannon was a little more of the norm in which she was working as well as spending a lot of time with her family. It felt a little busy, but other than that, I loved the story line. Give me a hot jock any day!! I love that and a coder no less, yes please!Jamie is a wonderful guy, like I mentioned before, he is a hockey player and his family creates some of the most popular video games and he is a bit of a geek himself. He is struggling at the beginning of this story because he fell for his long time friend a while back and she completely stabbed him in the back, like AWFULLY stabbed him in the back. This has definitely hindered his decision making skills for the female variety.I adored Shannon! She has a work ethic like none other and even though she is shy, she is able to put herself out there with Jamie and not be walked over either-- you go girl! This was an entertaining read and while there was a lot going on, I enjoyed reading it and will definitely check out more from the author!4 outta 5 from me!PS: I voluntarily received this book as an ARC in return for my honest feedback!

Jameson O’Conner is a hockey player through and through, but he also has a nerdy side and he loves technology as much as he loves being on the ice. Which is something that he comes by naturally, as his father has made a name for himself in the gaming world, developing some it's highest grossing games. His interest in technology has brought him many rewarding moments, one being a friendship with his fellow classmate Shannon. From the moment they met they hit it off, on an intellectual level of course, not romantically. But somewhere along the way things started to be a little less about computers and a little more about the sparks bouncing around between them. But before they have a chance to embrace them, a former flame of Jameson's comes back into his life, and shakes things up... and leaves him trying to decide which one deserves his heart!Jocking Jameson is a dramatic little page-turner that brings smiles, swoons, and gives the heart a good squeeze. I loved meeting Jameson and the ladies who compete for his time and attention, their exciting little adventure kept me enthralled from start to finish. I highly recommend you get your hands on this series, each book comes brimming with heartfelt emotion, and characters that will leave permanent indent on your heart!
