Well, as the saying goes, "all good things must come to an end." And this is the case with Lynne Gentry's Carthage Chronicles trilogy. The storyline in books 1&2 were so exciting that it was hard to wait for the release of the third, and unfortunately last, book in this series. Lynne did not disappoint with picking back up with the story and carrying us deeper into the character's lives. I was so truly invested in the characters that I didn't want the book to end! Lynne's writing style is captivating and makes it so easy to imagine and feel what her characters are experiencing. I am truly sad that this trilogy has come to an end, but I just have to hope that Lynne will continue to excite us and spur us on to think deeply about things as she continues to publish other books!

This was a heartbreaking conclusion, but I don't see how it could have been any other way. Lynne Gentry captured my attention from the first chapter of the first book and held it all the way through the book study questions of the final book--I didn't want it to end so I read through every word :)! This trilogy was well-written, well planned, and well researched. Go ahead and buy the three books at the same time because you won't want to wait after you finish each book! The fictional characters were brought to life so well that they'll be in my thoughts for a long time! I can picture each character and setting as if I had photos to view.

Enjoy reading Christian fiction, no swearing, with good taste in romance.

I am now an emotional wreck! This story of true love and steadfast faith is one that will stay with me for a long time.

This was such a good conclusion for the series! I loved every single book in it. In my opinion you should start with the first and read all of them in order.I loved how Maggie grew from the second book to this one. You really see her parents in her.

From the beginning of this series, I couldn't put it down. The characters were captivating and each book left me in suspense of what was to come. A glimpse into the reality of what history held along with the challenge of taking a stand fir Christ. May I share the love that was held between these characters and their faith in the One True God.

The author discusses the middle income trap, though this concept is more amorphous and describes how China needs more vibrant consumer driven economy with less state intervention to deliver the appropriate goods and services to a society getting richer. This is definitely a questionable conclusion as many would argue China's entrepreneurial class are world leading. The author gets into the real time issues China is facing with trade. These are deep issues as China is not opening itself up in many critical areas to trade for its domestic markets. Furthermore its economic model does not really allow for reciprocity. These issues will plague relations for the visible future. I agree with Dr. Rogers that this book is an invaluable reference for the psychologist or other mental health professional who seeks a comprehensive yet succinct text to help interpret MMPI-2 profiles. Some of the characteristics of the book I particularly like are:* Very well researched with up-to-date references to the studies that support the author's statements.* Very well-written and easy to follow yet sophisticated in its language and articulation of often complex interpretive issues.* Frequent descriptions of the heterogeneity or homogeneity of individual scales and subscales, which is crucial to understanding how to best interpret scores. In a similar vein, the author also frequently calls attention to the correlation between subscales, which also is important to help aid interpretation.* The "Rapid Reference" boxes provide a nice overview of important features of a scale.* Providing the following for every scale: Presenting Problem, Symptomatic Pattern, Interpersonal Relations, Behavioral Stability, Defenses, History, Diagnostic Considerations, and Treatment Considerations.Although I too like to have the classics (e.g., Greene, Graham) available, if I had to choose only one MMPI-2 interpretive text it would be Essentials of MMPI-2 Assessment.

David Nichols provides detailed, easy-to-understand guidance for assessing psychopathology and personality using the MMPI-2. As a graduate student in clinical psychology, I found this book extremely helpful in evaluating MMPI-2 profiles. The book we are using in my Assessment of Personality course - Newmarks' Major Psychological Assessment Instruments, was simply too dry and academic. I purchased Essentials to help me understand the powerful MMPI-2. It worked! In class, when called upon to provide my own assessment of MMPI-2 profiles, I was able to quickly make sound judgments. Other students were amazed. In fact, the professor asked: "How did you know that?" When I shared I was using Nichols' book, he exclaimed; "That explains it. That book is excellent."Essentials includes far greater detail on potential 2, 3, and 4 code profiles. In addition, it includes insight into the history, treatment and prognosis of individuals with various clinical scale, validity scale, and profile code scores. It also includes detailed information on the clinical and normal groups and validation stragy used for each scale. Many tables also provide quick references for later use.

I love this series. They're very helpful for assessments. Required reading for graduate courses and I'm so glad they were because they're a great companion.

First class work with in depth look at the clinical scales, and all the other scales and interpretations of the various combinations. If a person wasn't in the mental health profession, however, it would not be an easy or appealing book. But for those who administer and interpret the MMPI-2 it is of much benefit. Congratulations to Dr. David Nichols.

I purchased this book to learn more about the MMPI lie scale. Although I know more than I did before, Nichols doesn't go into the adequate detail.

This book gives you the big picture hence, you won't get lost in academic nuance. I have learned some really cool stuff about Mojave OS that I would not be able to have learned in a 9,999 page book - and if, and when you need to dig deeper just ask Google or Youtube! (And enjoy the money you save on a couple of cups of good coffee!)

I know this author is a Bible teacher for a women's ministry, so I shouldn't have been surprised that this book is heavy on the teaching and light on story. I knew the broad outline of what was happening in the author's life -- ill health, divorce -- and was interested in hearing how she was doing. But, honestly, I believe memoir would have been a better way to tell her story.In this book, the author is so intent on teaching the reader that her own story takes a back seat. I would rather have heard more about her own personal struggle to come to terms with the circumstances of her life -- what she is learning, not what we should learn. It was difficult for me to empathize with her because the moment she shares something personal, she is off and running with the lesson. That, or she bounces off the painful revelations into silly stories about her medical exams and therapy sessions. When I closed the book, those were the passages I remembered, because they were vivid and specific. I had hoped the entire book would have this vividness. Without it, and without the emotional depth her story should have, the book doesn't have the impact it could have. I want to weep with those who weep, mourn with those who mourn, but the format of this book works against that desire.In this genre, called "Christian Living," authors often attempt to teach by writing in vague ways they hope will allow any reader to apply the lesson to their lives. So, for example, in Chapter 8, the author builds her lesson around a comment by a friend that upsets her. But the author doesn't reveal what was said to her. How can I understand her overreaction without knowing what set it off? "In the particular is contained the universal," James Joyce said. I wish more writers would take that to heart.All in all, this book will satisfy fans of Lysa TerKeurst, as it's written in her tried-and-true study format. While that was tame and I kept thinking ... a friend at a PTO meeting rejects you... that isn't true rejection, come on now, Lysa... that book didn't hit the spot.THIS BOOK DID.It was raw without being jaded, real without being cynical, heartbreaking without being hopeless, and Exactly what you can relate to if you have, quoting Lysa, "licked the floor of hell."If you've "licked the floor of hell" then Uninvited is like a band aid on an amputated leg.THIS BOOK is not.It's like Streams In The Desert... one of the few Christian books that does not minimize pain in an effort to maximize God. It is both validating of where you're at (or where you've been) while always pointing to Jesus.

I am very picky about the female authors for Christian non-fiction. I much prefer Frangipane, Tozer, etc.. I am a huge fan of Terkeurst however! She is open, raw, funny, but really knows the word of God and manages to hit you in those deep places that you think someone just does not understand what you are going through.She does understand.She has been there and is willing to share it all. I cannot recommend this book enough and even bought 3 more to give as gifts to those it will help, as it is helping me during a difficult season of my life.There is never a dull moment in Lysa's books, this is no exception. No pretention, no author distance, reading it is like sitting down and having a cup of coffee and talking to her.Wherever you are in your life, no matter how deep the rabbit hole goes with your problems, she finds you there with her poignant honesty and you won't be the same after.Thank you Lysa for your openness and vulnerability in this book!

Friends, if you are experiencing a season of long suffering, a season where you’re broken to the point where you feel like your heart is dust and nothing can make it whole again, where you’ve been rejected and feel hopeless and alone, where you cry to Abba but think He’s not hearing or listening, PLEASE, read this book!!! I can not recommend it enough!!! Lysa Terkheurst truly hit a home run with this one!

I was so excited I got to read this book. I have heard lots of good things about this author and a prior book of hers. My friend suggested this book because she knows I am going though an "It's not supposed to be this way," time in my life. Lysa is so personable & she is so down to earth with her writing style. She helped me relate what I am going through to what she is going through and how to look at it from a different perspective. I read the book in 2 days, but I plan to reread again to make sure I really dive into the heart of what she was conveying.

“I am not good enough. How recently have you had this thought about yourself?”What a sad but hopeful book this is. Written with wonderful and heart breaking examples. I love the “worksheets” at the end of each chapter, reminding me of the important points, scripture, questions to ponder & a prayer.“I’m exhausted by change. I still find myself resisting it. But I’ve been transformed into a better human because of what we walked through.”Receiving an advanced copy of this book was a privilege. I appreciate the opportunity to review and share my thoughts with others.

As a long time fan of Lysa T., this is absolutely one of her most heartfelt and vulnerable books. Her writing is raw and real and vulnerable, it has had an incredible impact on me already and I am only half way through! A must read for anyone who has experienced heartache, pain, or trauma.

My copy arrived in the mail today, I’ve already ordered more copies to give away. Lysa’s vulnerability will lead others to the bottom line of this book. As believers, Jesus wants to be our greatest affection. He will permit us to be disappointed, suffer and question in order to find that only He is enough to satisfy. This book is laced with biblical truth beautifully woven through a very raw story. However, if you grab, excavate the truth, it will anchor you through any storm. Courageous effort!
