Having a copy of the US Constitution helps me remember some of the "rights" that have been trampled under foot. Moreover, it clearly dispels and renders BOGUS some of the claims from "leftist" propaganda. 2nd amendment, right to bear armes. FYI, is to sustain a militia, not individuals, and that organization is a states right, as well as Federal. Other parts seem less vague, but when put in contrext of the time and place that they were written, it becomes clearer. EVERYONE should know and defend the USC. It appears schools no longer teach Social Studies, or related subjects, since, as my grandson said, "we don't need that stuff, we have computers or smart phones..." Shame on us.
This is perfect for my classroom. My students appreciate the fact that besides the constitution itself, it also contains supplemental information explaining elements of the constitution in easy to understand language. This is a must have for every home bookshelf and school library.
In this book we learn more about how the Constitution was written and how it is meant to function. Michael Greve does a good job with this topic, explaining the "ins and outs" of this cornerstone of America in a language practically anyone can understand. While its small size doesn't allow it to be an all-inclusive book on the topic, it is certainly more than enough to get you to reflect on the importance of our Constitution and its relationship to the People.
A very good short history of our constitution and easy to read. No excessive details, but enough so that you know all the sides of an issue or process. The author describes the tradeoffs involved, the critical timing of the document, and the efforts to make a constitution that would be long-lasting and adaptable as opposed to a long "laws list" that would soon be discarded. I was amazed to learn that many constitutions last fewer than 20 years. I have greater respect for our Founding Fathers and would hope that current politicians could do as well. The book avoids current politics and does not crusade for any cause.
The only reason why I'm giving this 2 stars is because of the company's involved in making this book.Corporate influence is a terrible thing.I do not recommend solely on the contributor's to this book.Which attempts to explain the constitution with an opinion.
This book does a reasonable job of describing the Constitution and the intent of its creators. It also doors a reasonable job of presenting both sides of differing opinions on certain topics of controversy.
Very good. An excellent overview to peek your interest to go further in study of our constitution. The only draw back I see is that this could have been longer and the author could have explored a little more in depth. But otherwise, an excellent read.
