I have three month old twins and was looking for an in depth guide to sleep training them. This book is not that guide. It provided useful information about the importance of sleep for babies, the need to recognize tired cues before babies are over tired and helped me to realize that many times when I thought my babies were just fussing for the sake of it they were tired and not as able to put themselves to sleep in midst of everything as they were at two months old. However the book was severely lacking in practical information in how to actually sleep train babies- and no trouble shooting for twin issues. I know they're supposed to go to sleep early, but what if one goes down and the other is up for two more hours, do I wake the late fall-asleeper when the early sleeper gets up in the morning? If one is showing tired cues long before the other at nap time, how do I get the not sleepy one to go down too? If one sleeps a six hour chunk and the other cannot surpass four hours, should I be waking the long sleeper to keep them on schedule?I finished the book in three days and still have no idea how to get my twins sleeping on the same schedule or how to trouble shoot twin specific sleeping issues.He does address issues related to advanced maternal age, prematurity and health issues related to prematurity. Perhaps I need to also read the original book (as some other posters have suggested). Though it seems cheap to leave information out of this book to force twin parents to buy the original book as well- we have to buy two of enough baby items!I do give the book two stars because I like his approach- sleep begets sleep and well rested babies are happier. I just wish I knew how to implement.

The follow-up Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Twins is a good resource to a parent of twins, offering practical advice for handling your multiples with a nice balance of confidence and humility.I had a singleton first, and we used the Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child book to sleep train her. (Sleep train is a harsh description as it invokes images of a screaming baby and stressed parents but this is NOT how I'd describe this method) Because I had previous experience with the Weissbluth method we had an advantage in sleep training our twins. I found while the twins' book offered some practical detail about twinfants, and dealing with common concerns related to prematurity, it lacked the detail of its predecessor, Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child.The Weissbluth method focuses almost entirely on the premise that rested babies sleep better. You need to toss out the age old notion that if you keep your baby up, they will sleep longer and better at night. This simply is an old wives tale not unlike putting cereal in your infant's bottle. Weissbluth focuses on preventing bad habits from starting and getting your baby down in their crib sleepy but awake and allowing them to drift off to sleep by themselves. I was skeptical at first, particularly because he says that babies can't comfortably stay awake for more than 90 minutes. BUT ITS TRUE, after 90 minutes all of my children reach a state of irritability, where they seem to want to nurse and be cuddled. With my first child I mistook this cue to mean that she was hungry. I was nursing her every 90 minutes when I should have been napping her.All in all I HIGHLY recommend the Healthy Sleep Habits method, but I suggest the parent of multiples buy the original book, Happy Child, and skip Happy Twins. It just didn't have the detail and step by step instructions like Happy Child had and I still use my Happy Child book as quick reference when one of the kids hits a funny sleeping stage.FAQ's about being a mom of multiples.- Yes, my twins shared a crib until they started moving around. They tended to snuggle close together so I had to put a barrier between them in the crib to reduce the risk of SIDS and them accidentally smothering each other.- I put them in separate cribs in the same room at 5 months.- They really do ignore each other. One does not wake the other when they cry in the middle of the night- When one wakes for a night feeding we always woke up the other one and fed them too to keep them on the same schedule.- We keep their room at about 65 degrees- We give them a bath every night before bed but instead of trying to wrangle the baby tub we bought the 2 of the spongy things and put them in the regular bath tub. It is faster and they like the water.

I liked this book but I found it didn't ever give you an actual schedule to try out and that's really what i wanted. I instead ordered 12 hours by 12 weeks even though my twins were 7 months. They cater to multiples and had them sleeping in no time with a schedule and all.

Both babies sleeping through the night since 3 months old. We read this book multiple times and took extensive notes and then referred back to them for the first couple of months. This is the #1 thing I now recommend for expectant twin parents and for expectant single parents too. I can't tell you how much this saved us!

Read this instead of Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Baby if you are having multiples. The books on singletons do not apply to multiples!! This book explains how to schedule twins to get them and their parents the best quality sleep possible. I read both books and wish I had just gotten the Twins version only. It's also shorter, so it's more likely that my husband will read it. I wish there was a video companion to this book!

Recommended by the Pedatrician and the book was somewhat helpful but not truly comprehensive. We werr already told that the author was a proponent of "cry it out" and found that to be true. There was a helpful tip in the book about how to recognize when your babies start getting sleepy as in, what signs to look for. Overall it is a short helpful book

I want more details than put babies down “drowsy but awake.” I was hoping for details on how to actually put 2 babies down at the same time! Drowsy but awake sounds great, but in reality, individual temperament has a lot to do with the success of that. Not worth the money, to me. It also basically teaches the cry it out method, which doesn’t work for every family.

Some useful info regarding stages (but timing didn't line up with my twins.) There's no true step-by-step... The "steps" are more informational vice instructive. The troubleshooting is more about breastfeeding and potential obstacles (with no resolutions) than actual troubleshooting. It's an ok book, but is geared toward the person learning about sleep training rather than the one in the throes of it trying to figure out a method. It's as if they wrote a book and then titled the sections based on what you'd love to know vice what the sections actually contained. Blah.
